Teaching Life Cycles
Being able to teach early learners about life cycles is a pretty cool topic. It helps to fill the gaps on what happens to a plant or animal once they’re born all the way until it’s grown-up or fully bloomed/developed.
The easiest way I’ve found for teaching life cycles is to have a hands-on learning and visual approach. The more that the kids can actually see the process and be a part of it in some way, the more that they’re going to remember it as well.
How are Plant and Animal Life Cycles Different?
Even though both plant and animal life cycles are similar in the fact that it shows the process of lives, the difference is that plants start as a seed while animals begin lives as eggs and grow up from there.
There are obviously more differences than that between the two life cycles but it’s a good starting point to begin conversations. Talk to the kids about what they think the main differences are between the two and see if they can spot them without your help.
This type of discussion is great for their analytical skills and communication skills as well.
