Since we like to learn about all different animals and insects, life cycle printables are always part of our rotation of learning fun. This is an easy way to get some hands-on learning while talking more about the animal or insect as well.

We always see spiders when we’re walking and exploring so this makes for the perfect activity to understand how they grow and age throughout the span of their life.

When we learn at home, I like to add a variety of learning tools for the kids. This will vary between reading books, watching documentaries, or having printables on hand for them to complete.

And if you play your cards right, you can easily have all the above on the same topic, creating quite a fun learning week.

Anytime I can combine resources and make a fun learning atmosphere, I’m 100% committed to making that happen.

The great part about using printables for learning is that it gives each kid their very own printable to work on. This not only teaches them learning independence but it boosts their confidence about learning as well.

Recommended Spider Books for Kids

Check out these books about spiders! Reading has always been a huge part of learning in our house so these books are ones that we love to read and use during our Spider Life Cycle education.

My kids tend to vary on the types of books that they like so I get a wide range of options to appease them both. The list of books below has a mixture of cartoons and real pictures which I think give a good balance to the mind as well as the real world.

It’s always a lot of fun to have the kids read a book showing images of real spiders and then identify them if we see them on a walk – or even sometimes in our house!

Any of these books would be a great choice to sit and read with the kids or have them read to you. These are just a few of our favorite spider books.

Using this Spider Life Cycle learning activity will give the kids a chance to understand how a spider goes from an egg to the spider that we see walking around every day.

It’s also a great worksheet for them to work on their fine motor skills, their cutting skills, and their hand-eye coordination, too.

You can spend time talking about the life cycle and then have them complete it as they think it should be completed based on the order of the pictures. This would give them time to process their thoughts and put them in the order that they think they should be.

If the order isn’t correct, this is the perfect time for a conversation to learn the proper order. Then they can cut out the words and add them to the pictures once they have the order completed.

Recommended Spider Toys

As with all learning fun, toys can be a great addition to bring into the mix. Some toys really enjoy learning toys because it helps them feel as though they’re being creative while working on independence, too.

I think that educational toys are always a great idea! Below you’ll find a mixture of puzzles, learning kits, realistic spiders, and more.

The spider puzzles are really fun to put together as well and could be a really fun project for the family. I’ve listed a metal one and a wooden one and they’re both really cool.

These spider gift ideas would also be great for Christmas gifts or birthday gifts as well. If you have a spider-fan in the house, you can’t go wrong with these.
