Noah’s Ark Coloring Pages for Kindergarten

Young Learners Science Club

When I put together Noah’s Ark Coloring Pages for Kindergarten, I wanted something simple, meaningful, and easy to hand to a child who is just starting to connect Bible stories with hands-on learning. I have always loved printables that give us a calm way to talk about faith while my kids stay busy with a page in front of them.

If you are putting together a Bible unit at home, make sure you also check out my list of Bible activities for kids. I have leaned on resources like these many times when I wanted something useful, open-and-go, and still fun for early learners.

What I like most about these coloring sheets is that they do more than fill time. They help kindergartners hear the story, notice the details, and remember what happened in a way that feels natural and age-appropriate.

Why do kids need to know about the story of Noah’s Ark?

The story of Noah’s Ark gives kids an early look at obedience, trust, and God’s care. It also gives us a gentle way to talk about how God had a plan even during a hard time.

  • It teaches obedience. Kids can see that Noah listened to God even when the task was huge and unusual.
  • It shows God’s protection. The ark account helps children understand that God cared for Noah, his family, and the animals.
  • It builds Bible knowledge. This well-known account gives kindergarten students a strong foundation for later scripture study.
  • It helps with retelling. The simple sequence makes it easier for young learners to remember what happened first, next, and last.

Recommended Bible Story Books

I always liked keeping a few age-appropriate Bible story books nearby so we could read the Noah account before coloring and then talk about the pictures together.

Skills kids will learn with this Noah’s Ark Bible Printables

These pages give kindergarten students a chance to do more than just color. When my daughter was younger, I noticed that story-based printables helped her slow down, pay attention, and talk through what she was seeing on the page.

  • Build story order. Read the pages in order so your child can follow the account from building the ark to God’s protection.
  • Practice fine motor control. Give your child crayons or colored pencils and let them work on staying inside the lines.
  • Grow oral language. Ask simple questions about each picture so your child can describe the animals, weather, and people.

I also like having Bible-themed learning kits on hand for moms who want a ready-made option that adds crafts, matching, and early learning practice to their week.

Supplies needed for the Noah’s Ark Printable

You do not need much to get started with these Noah’s Ark pages, which is another reason I keep printables like these in my homeschool stack.

I have the HP printer 8710, but it’s no longer available. It’s been running well for years now. Consider another HP Instant Ink-ready printer so that you can use their program to send you ink cartridges whenever your printer gets low on ink.

What’s included in the Noah’s Ark coloring sheets?

Cover page

The first page works well as a cover and sets the scene with the ark on the water, a rainbow overhead, and pairs of animals peeking out from the boat. I like using this page as an introduction because kids can start talking right away about what they already know from the account.

God told Noah to build the ark

This page shows Noah beside the ark with a short sentence about God telling him to build a big ark. It is a good place to begin talking with kindergartners about listening to God and following directions.

Noah brought the animals inside

This sheet features the ark surrounded by pairs of animals, including birds, elephants, sheep, pigs, lions, snakes, zebras, and giraffes. I love how this page opens up easy conversation about pairs, animal names, and what Noah may have had to do to get everything ready.

Then it rained day and night

This page focuses on the flood with rain falling from a cloud over the ark floating on the water. It gives kids a clear visual for the storm part of the story without making the scene feel too heavy for this age.

God kept them safe

The last page shows Noah and the animals on dry land with the words about God keeping them safe. I think this is a sweet ending because it brings the focus back to God’s care and gives moms a natural way to wrap up the lesson.

Ways to extend the activity

Once my kids finished coloring pages like these, I would usually add one more simple activity to keep the lesson fresh without it turning into too much prep for me.

  • Read another Bible story printable. Pair this set with the Jonah and the Whale printable mini-book for another easy, faith-based activity that works well during Bible time.
  • Add a matching game. Try the 10 Commandments matching game when you want a second Bible activity that gets kids thinking and talking.
  • Retell the account with toys. Use animal figures and a toy boat so your child can act out the story in their own words after coloring.
  • Make a rainbow craft. Follow up with a simple rainbow art project to talk about God’s promise and give the lesson a bright final touch.

More bible activities for kids to try

If your child enjoys story-based printables, there are so many more Bible activities you can add to your homeschool routine. I used to rotate coloring pages, simple games, and themed worksheets so our faith lessons felt steady without getting stale.

These Noah’s Ark coloring pages are a simple way to bring Bible time into your homeschool day without making extra work for yourself. For moms teaching kindergarten, they offer an easy opening for story retelling, fine-motor practice, and meaningful faith conversations all at once.
