How to make this sea turtle life cycle craft?
As you can see, all you need is various colors of play dough, a paper plate, some different colors of construction paper, and some creativity to get started. This simple sea turtle craft is a fun way to go through the four life cycle states.
While there isn’t really an exact way to make this life cycle, there are some simple steps that you can have the kids do.
Start by cutting out a round blue circle and black strips to make the “water” on the base of the plate as well as the “x” that divides the plate into four sections. Add some glue and stick it all in place.
Then, divvy up the playdough and make certain to give the kids white, blue, and green hunks of playdough so that all the various life cycles can be created.
For the first cycle, make a round white egg. This is meant to be the sea turtle egg. (see if the kids can make it really look like an egg!) They can then write the word “egg” on a little piece of paper and have it underneath.
For the next triangle area. make an egg and smash it down a bit and then add on the turtle head and the two arms. This step in the life cycle process is meant to look as though the turtle is hatching.
The third area of the sea turtle life cycle is meant to look like a tiny turtle as it grows older, too. This can be done in the lighter green playdough to give it a more lively look.
Then the last triangle section is the adult turtle part of the sea turtle’s life and is made using the darker blue playdough. This turtle should be a bit bigger, have a longer tail, and have a more distinct pattern on its back.
Once the parts of the sea turtle life cycle are done, it’s time to talk about the process from start to finish. This is a great way to have the kids talk about turtles that they say daily versus sea turtles to find out if there is a difference in the life cycles.
You can use this fun sea turtle activity as a simple way to get the kids excited about learning about sea turtles. This is a fun way to teach them about sea turtles in a very hands-on way.
The great thing about this sea turtle craft is that it can be done over and over again. It’s perfect for kids of all ages to learn and play with playdough!
