Fun Space Activities for Kids
One of the great things about space activities is that they’re perfect for keeping your child’s attention! There are so many great activities on this page that they’re going to love!
It’s also super fun to go outside during the different seasons of the year as well. There’s just something magical about staring up at the sky during winter versus summer. Both are beautiful, but unique as well.
Talk to the kids about why they think they vary and what their understanding is. This activity is great for conversation and critical thinking skills, too.

Being able to track the moon and how it changes every day is great. They’ll get to visually look at the moon daily and then record what they see. This is a fun approach that is interactive and educational as well.
Day 3 – Space Slime Recipe
Have fun with this out of this world slime recipe to bring the solar system to your hands.
Don’t forget to get some great space books. We LOVE reading in our house and have books literally in every room and even in our car.
My reason for this is because I want the kids to have access to books anytime that they want. If they have a need or a want to read, I want books to be right there for them, ready to use.

Add these books about space to your kids library at home. You can start out with one or two and just add to the pile as you grow. I also cycle out books so that they stay new and fresh throughout the year.

Don’t forget about the space worksheets. We love using worksheets in our house because the kids will feel so accomplished when they are able to do them on their own!
One of my favorite things to do is print out worksheets and have them in the car as well. They’re so handy to have for when we’re running errands or traveling!
These writing worksheets will give them the confidence to work on their handwriting skills in a fun space theme.
Print these off and keep them handy for slow days or for a fun way to incorporate learning into your homeschooling lessons.

Fun Space Activities
Not all learning has to be done on paper! Here are some great sensory space activities that the kids will love, too.
These two recipes listed below are ones that they can help out with as well. Have them join in on the creative fun so that they’re able to be a part of the process.
Grab some fun tools and then let them build something fun with this playdough recipe. The added sparkles are really cool and this is wonderful for sensory play.
Want to help them learn more about the planets? This is the activity they need! There are quite a few planets out there to learn about so let the kids use this as their guide.
The great thing about this fun activity is that it’s really going to help them learn about the planets as well. And who knows – you just might learn something, too!
Do you ever just stop and stare up at the moon? It’s one of our favorite things to do! These moon activities are fun to pair up with other space activities.
Go outside and take time just staring up at the moon as well. It’s so relaxing and calm!
Do the kids know how many lunar phases there are? This fun printable worksheet will inform their minds all about the phases of the moon. They’ll be shocked at just how much the moon changes!
There are so many cool constellations up in the sky but do you or the kids know what they are? I only knew a few of the names before we did these activities!
Lacing cards are always fun. This is a great fine motor activity for the kids that results in them creating and designing constellations!
When the kids can make their own constellations, they’re going to have a great time. The more creative that they can be, the more that they’re going to remember!
