Easter Activities for Kids
We’ve put together a few fun Easter activities for kids that will hopefully make your Easter planning a little bit easier.
Easter is a great time to spend with family and friends, but what should you do?
Easter can be a tough holiday to plan for because it’s not just about Easter eggs. Easter is also about the Easter bunny, bunnies in general, and springtime activities.

Interesting Easter Facts for Kids
Easter is not just about colorful eggs and chocolate; it’s a chance to explore history, traditions, and symbols in a fun way. If you like adding seasonal facts to your lessons, these Easter facts will engage kids and make learning enjoyable.
- Easter changes every year, celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox, which is why its date varies between March and April. My kids were curious about this, prompting a fun discussion, and we even checked future Easter dates.
- The Easter Bunny wasn’t always a bunny.
This was one of those facts that got a giggle from my youngest. The idea of an Easter animal originated from German immigrants in the 1700s, who brought tales of an egg-laying hare. But in some traditions, it was a bird or a fox! We ended up drawing our own versions of different Easter animals—some got pretty creative. - Eggs represent new life.
Eggs have been a symbol of rebirth for centuries, even before Easter became a holiday. In our homeschool, we use this fact to discuss springtime and the natural cycles. One year, we made our paper mâché eggs and filled them with fun messages about things we were excited to grow or learn. It’s such a sweet way to connect the meaning behind the tradition to personal growth.
Easter learning doesn’t have to feel forced. These facts add a bit of meaning to the fun and give us an easy way to explore science, history, and culture in our everyday lessons. Additionally, the conversations that emerge from them are always my favorite part.

How can I make Easter more fun?
One activity that is always popular is an Easter egg hunt. You can hide eggs all around the house or yard, and have the kids go find them.
Another option is to dye the eggs in different colors. If you’re looking for something a little more Easter-specific, consider making Easter baskets. Kids love Easter baskets, and they can be filled with a variety of items, from Easter eggs to chocolate bunnies.
If you’re looking for something that doesn’t involve eggs or baskets, you could always try an Easter scavenger hunt. Write down a list of Easter-related items and have the kids find them all. This can be a lot of fun, and it’s a great way to get the whole family involved.
