Once the weather gets a bit colder, having fun indoor activities is super important. There are days that we can head outside and play in the snow, but on other days, we like to snuggle and stay out of the cold.

It’s for super cold days and days that we want to create, so this list of fun snowman activities is put to use. We’ve literally done all of these before and rotated them so that we can do them over and over again. The kids love them, and I love seeing them create.

How to Make Learning Fun During the Winter Season

Cold days can feel repetitive, but themed plans change everything. I lean on hands-on ideas that mix creativity, play, and simple academics.

  • Use themed worksheets paired with crafts to keep interest high
  • Rotate sensory play to break up table work
  • Read seasonal stories before starting an activity
  • Add movement breaks using winter-themed games

The fun thing about all of these snowman ideas and activities is that they’re all unique and different from one another. Some are STEM-created, some are printables, and others are more art-focused instead.

I always like to give the kids a choice when it comes to activities, when there’s a list to choose from. It’s a fun way to help them find their confidence, get excited, and create at the same time.

As you know, I love books because they help the kids imagine and have a blast with the characters. We like to switch up our books during wintertime and always have a few snowman books on hand.

Some of our favorites are listed below, but there are many more. You know that the best way to keep the books fresh is to rotate them out, so this is what I always try to do. Stick a few in the car, a few in your purse, a few on the nightstand by their bed, and a few in the living room or playroom.

Don’t forget to buy a few, but also check out the library to rotate in some new ones. Being able to switch up the books but keep them on the same topic is one of our favorite things to do.
