Interesting Facts About Watermelons
When we started coloring, my kids asked me how many seeds were inside a watermelon, and it got us down a fun rabbit hole of facts. Watermelons are fascinating once you look a little closer.
- There are over 1,200 varieties of watermelon worldwide. They come in different shapes, sizes, and even colors. Some varieties have yellow or orange flesh instead of the typical red, which totally surprised my kids.
- Watermelons can grow to over 200 pounds. There’s a world record-holder out there that topped 350 pounds. My kids were wide-eyed at the idea of a watermelon that big.
- They were once hollowed out and used as canteens. Ancient travelers used them to carry water before we had plastic bottles. That fact led to a lot of pretend-play conversations in our house.

I have the HP printer 8710, but it’s not available anymore. It’s been running well for years now. Look for another HP Instant Ink-ready printer so that you can use their program to send you ink cartridges whenever your printer gets low on ink.
