Are you a no-slime household? I’ve been hearing this term a lot lately and it’s a new one to me. I don’t have any issue with slime but I think that just because we’ve been making slime forever so it doesn’t even cross my mind.
One of the things that I do love about slime is that the kids are a part of a process. This means that they’re putting together ingredients and reading directions to actually make something with their own hands. To me, that’s awesome.
And while slime can be a bit sticky at times, it really isn’t all that bad. We have some basic rules in the house when it comes to slime and they’ve actually worked out really well. I’ll dive into those more below!

Strawberry Slime Recipe
Slime is really fun to make at home. I know a lot of people think that all slime recipes are the same, but they’re really not. Some are sticky, some are soft, some are mushy, and some smell amazing, just like this one. It’s a great recipe to make if you love that sweet, sweet smell of strawberries.
We tend to make this a lot during the summer months because the scent of strawberries just reminds me of summer.

Supplies Needed to Make Strawberry Slime
Just gather up the list of supplies below to get started!
- 1 bottle of Elmer’s Glue (6 ounces)
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ~ ½ cup warm water
- Red food coloring
- 1 tsp of strawberry scent
- 1 T contact lens solution with boric acid
How to make this Strawberry Slime Recipe
You’re going to find that this simple slime recipe is a simple and easy craft for the kids. What you’ll find is that it’s not only great for sensory play but it smells so good as well!
The color of this slime will vary depending on how many drops of red that you put into it. If you want it to be a darker red, just add in more drops of red. If you want it to be more of a pink, you just need a few fewer drops.
Make certain to let the kids help in stirring the slime. This is such a great job for them! This will have them being a big helper in this simple slime recipe and feel like they’re really doing their part.
The more that they stir, the more that the slime is going to form. This is great because it means that the slime is going to get less and less sticky over time. The last thing that you want is to have the slime sticking to your hands.
Once the slime sticks together well, you know that it’s good to go! This means the kids can stretch, pull and play with the slime easily!
Why didn’t my slime set up properly?
If your slime is still sticky after following the recipe below, you might need to stir it for even longer. You can also add in a bit more baking soda to try and help the slime set it.
I would recommend doing this slowly though in case you add in too much.
Tips for Storing Slime
After making the slime, the last thing that you want to have happen is to have it dry out. To combat that, you need to be certain to store your slime.
The biggest thing to remember about slime is that you need to keep it out of the air. All you need is a mason jar or a container with a lid to keep it nice and soft. You can even put it into a sealable bag as well for freshness.

This is why making glitter is so much fun! You can easily add in items like scents, glitter, food coloring, and more. Even though slime is a sensory activity all on it’s own, you can easily make it different every time you want to make it.

Strawberry Slime Recipe
The kids will love this simple slime recipe!
Materials
- 1 bottle of Elmer's Glue (6 ounces)
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ~ ½ cup warm water
- Red food coloring
- 1 tsp of strawberry scent
- 1 T contact lens solution with boric acid
Instructions
Put the glue into a bowl and add warm water to the empty glue bottle about 1/3 full. Shake and pour in with the glue. Stir.
Add in the baking soda and stir.
Add in all the fun additions like scents, food coloring, and more and stir.
Add the lens solution and stir. Add slowly and stir as you don't want to add to much.
Take the slime out of the bowl.
The slime will be a bit sticky but the more it's played with, the more it will come together.
