New Year Activities That Kids Will Love

I’m sure your kids are excited about the year-end party! If you want to know what activities can make this celebration extra special, I’m sharing you these ideas to get you started then read on to find the list of New Year activities for kindergarten.

New Year Sensory Activities

A great way to get your kindergarteners interested in the New Year is by engaging their senses (and getting their hands messy!). This can be done through sensory bottles, slimes, or play dough activities.

For example, you could create a glittery slime or a sensory bottle filled with colorful glitter, googly eyes, and other items that represent the start of a new year. Or you could make a colorful play dough activity using cookie cutters in the shape of numbers or animals that represent the New Year. Both activities are great for helping your kids learn about numbers, colors, shapes, and more!

New Year Arts and Crafts

Nothing says celebration like colorful art projects! Putting together some festive decorations is a great way to get kids involved in the festivities while also honing their fine motor skills. Have them draw pictures of things they want for the new year or cut out paper snowflakes; either way they get to express themselves while having fun!

Kids can also make their DIY confetti poppers that are perfect for bringing some extra excitement on New Year’s Eve. For those who love to draw, you can provide them with markers or crayons to color in pictures of fireworks or other images related to New Year celebrations then decorate them with glitters!

Noise Makers and Countdown Activities

Who doesn’t love noise makers? Gather up some supplies from around the house such as paper towel rolls (or toilet paper rolls if you have those instead!), paper plates, beads, rice, scissors, markers or paint pens/crayons/colored pencils/etc., tape or hot glue gun (for adults only!), pipe cleaners/ribbon/yarn for decoration—and create your own DIY noisemakers!

Get creative with this activity; let your little ones customize their noisemakers however they want then count down from 10 before ringing in the new year with all sorts of boisterous sounds!
