Printable New Year Bookmarks Supplies
- Printer (I have this one)
- Cardstock paper
- Pencil
- Crayons
- Scissors
- sparkles, glitter, or sequins (optional)
I have the HP printer 8710, but it’s not available anymore. It’s still running well for years now. Look for another HP Instant Ink ready printer so that you can use their program to send you ink cartridges whenever your printer gets low on ink.

What’s included in the new year activity pages?
This printable comes with six different bookmark designs. They are black and white, so kids can color them any way they want.
The best is yet to come
This one features festive ornaments and stars with a bold, hopeful message that’s great for talking about looking ahead.
Every moment is a fresh beginning
Fireworks, stars, and confetti frame this inspiring quote. It works well as a conversation starter about growth and change.
New year. New me. Same dreams. Fresh starts.
With a mix of fonts and fireworks, this bookmark looks especially good in bright colors. The wording is short enough for young readers to understand.
This will be my year
This one has a party hat and firecrackers with a large blocky font. It’s a nice pick for kids who like to color big spaces.
New year, new me
A more script-style design with bursting firecrackers and swirls. It has more detail, which is nice for kids who like to take their time.
January, the first month of the year. A perfect time to start all over again.
Decorated with hanging ornaments and stars, this one has a calendar-like feel. It’s perfect for discussing the idea of starting over and planning ahead.

Steps on how to make a DIY Bookmark
Once the coloring is done, it’s easy to turn these pages into actual bookmarks.
- Print the pages on cardstock for durability
- Let the kids color each one
- Cut along the outlines to separate each bookmark
- Optional: Laminate them to make them last longer
- Optional: Use a hole punch at the top and tie a ribbon through it
How to extend the bookmark activity
If you’re looking to stretch this printable into a full lesson or project, here are a few ideas that worked for us.
- New Year Arts and Crafts: Use the bookmarks as part of a bigger craft table. Add glitter glue, stickers, or washi tape for extra texture.
- New Year’s Resolutions Worksheet: Have the kids fill this out first, then pick a bookmark that fits their goal.
- Read Aloud Time: Let kids use their new bookmarks during a group reading session. It adds a sense of ownership and gives them something to focus on.
- Classroom Display: Use the bookmarks to decorate a bulletin board or hallway. It’s a great way to showcase student work in a useful manner.
