These Forms of Energy Worksheets are perfect for the kids! If you’re ready to learn how different forms of energy are used on a daily basis, these are the best worksheets for them to be able to do just that! These printables would be perfect for a STEM learning activity or just a way to help the kids dive deeper into science learning and activities.
We like to filter in printables with hands-on learning as it’s a great combination that keeps the kids active and engaged. The more that they can combine these two learning skills, the better that their critical thinking skills will continue to develop.

Forms of Energy Worksheets
When you break down all the different topics and elements for learning, there are so many things that you can teach! This is what I love researching and then creating lesson plans or learning activities from.
I often talk to the kids about the type of work and activities that they’re forward to doing and Science ANYTHING is always at the top of the list. They love learning how things react to one another, or how things are created, so we have a huge list of things to work through.
What are the five main forms of energy?
For these worksheets, the kids will focus on identifying the 5 main energy forms.
- Electrical Energy
- Mechanical Energy
- Thermal Energy
- Chemical Energy
- Nuclear Energy
However, for this printable, I broke it down into more manageable and daily related items like battery, sun, electricity, fuel, and man. (You can then talk about which ones these fall into based on the categories above)
When it comes to early learning and printables, I like to relate them to the real world so that way it’s easier to process and identify. (but you can easily do a combination of both!)
Recommended Science Books for Kids
Even though printables and science activities are amazing, don’t forget that science books are great as well. The great thing about books pertaining to science information is that there are so many to choose from. You can start with a specific topic or even have the kids dive into physics, chemistry, and more!
We love reading books that have fun facts, bright pictures, and even activities that we can do easily right at home. Most of the science books that we read are a combination of fun and learning and those are great for holding the attention and helping them get excited about fun science projects.
You may find yourself feeling overwhelmed when it comes to finding a book that is suitable for the age of your child but don’t stress. If we happen to get a book that may be too old, this is where we approach it from a family learning perspective and sit down and go through it together.
Reading a book doesn’t mean that you have to read it from cover to cover necessarily so don’t make that a pressure point for you to try and handle. Even having a book that engages your child with pictures or fun drawings is helping to ignite their love of learning!
These books below are a few examples of ones that are great choices. They do an awesome job of having fun and vibrant pictures while keeping the pages full of facts and ideas.

Fun Ways to Use These Forms of Energy Worksheets
While you can easily print off these worksheets and have the kids start to complete them, you can stick with that process just fine. But if you want to have a few ideas to change up the way you approach printables, here are so fun ways that you can do just that!
Use them in the real world
Once your child fills out the form, take it out into the real world and see how many of the objects you can find. Make it be like a scavenger hunt sort of activity so that they can see that there are forms of energy happening around them all the time.
Color the pictures
There is always time for art! Since you’re printing off this paper in black and white, grab some markers or crayons and have the kids color the pictures. This is a great way to keep them focused and engaged for longer on a learning lesson AND they’ll love showing off their coloring skills.
You can easily have them do what they’d like to the printables and then explain their thought process to you as well! They’re their own forms of energy, right? So encourage them to be creative!
