The next time that you’re looking for a visual way to help teach your child along with a printable option, why not use these fun matter worksheets? My kids were a bit confused at first when we were just talking about the topic but once we dove in and used printables, it all started to make sense.

My goal as a homeschooling mom is to find ways to help them with their learning. Throughout the years we’ve tried all different types of learning methods but have found that learning worksheets and printables are a great way to break up the day and add in something new.

The kids are always really proud of being able to complete the worksheets on their own as well, and that makes my heart happy. I’ve found that worksheets are great for independent study and learning and provide a growth opportunity for them to learn at their own pace.

What are the 6 states of matter?

There are actually 6 main types of states of matter, which are solid, liquid, gas, plasma, Bose-Einstein condensate, and the Fermionic Condensate, but these worksheets really just focus on the main four for the kids to learn about.

You can always branch out and learn more about the others as they get older if you’re wanting to expand and dive in deeper!

Which state of matter is the strongest?

This is a fun question to ask the kids after completing the worksheets. Give them time to gather their thoughts and then see what they think that the answer to this question is.

The answer is that a solid is the strongest because of how the particles are close together to create a strong matter.

States of Matter Books for Kids

Diving in and talking about matter and Physics and how it relates to our everyday lives is a great learning exercise for the kids. Use this time to pair these worksheets up with some great educational resources and books, too.

The great thing about learning with books is that they give them a chance to read and explore on their own. When it comes to finding great books for kids, I highly recommend pairing up some of these great book ideas.

As you can tell, they’re all formatted a bit differently and this is just one other aspect that I love books so much. They can have fun with the drawings or they can learn from real objects on the pages as well.

Change up the type of books that you use to expand their love of reading!

As you can see from the printables below, they’ll be able to draw and identify the different states of matter easily.

Each child can complete at their own pace and you can check or talk about the answers as a group. This is a way that will give them their learning independence while also being there for them to help answer any questions that they might have.

You can complete this with a variety of ages and talk about the answers together, too.

These worksheets are geared towards early learners but they’re also a great reminder for older kids, too. The more that you can study topics, the more that the kids are going to remember them as well.

These worksheets do not have to be a “one and done” type of learning activity. They can easily be used as a refresher or a way to start the concept and branch off for more learning fun.

Ways To Extend States of Matter Learning

It’s important to remember that worksheets for learning are great but try and add some real-life or hands-on activities, too. This is a great way to keep the kid’s attention and to make them excited about learning.

One of the best ways to help a child remember a certain topic is to have them be a part of the activity. For this state of matter learning fun, see if they can think of objects around the house and put them in the right categories.

Even better yet, you can challenge them to see how many objects that they can grab in a short amount of time that would then fall into those categories. This will motivate them to get up and move and also challenge them to think quickly on their feet!

Once they have their objects, have them state what type of matter is it and explain how they got to that conclusion. This activity is a great way to help them group like items and really grasp the concept as well.
