Carnivore, Herbivore, and Omnivore Worksheets
Don’t miss out on these Carnivore, Herbivore, and Omnivore Worksheets for the kids. They’re the perfect way to learn all about the different types of ways that animals live and eat. Just when you thought you knew them all, you might be surprised by some of these answers.
If you love this activity, you have to try these Animal Activities for Kids, too.
My kids are always talking about animals – like all the time. And while I get the fascination, I don’t always know the right answers to some of their questions. I’ve found that these worksheets about various types of animals do a great job of helping them sort animals and learn various facts about them, too.
This is a great learning exercise that the kids can easily do that will have them having fun at the same time.

Carnivore, Herbivore, and Omnivore Worksheets
This is a fun homeschool curriculum activity for the kids to do. They’ll be able to learn about the type of animal it is by pictures and also by reading the words.
Be certain to check out our Animal Cell Coloring Worksheet as well.
What is a herbivore?
A herbivore is an animal that eats plants, and only plants.
Challenge the kids to see if they can think about any types of animals that they know only eats plants. Give them a few clues to help out with the thought process. You can even have them draw out the animals and see if you can guess what they’re drawing, too.
What is a carnivore?
A carnivore is an animal that eats other animals/meat.
See how many carnivores the kids can think of. Talk to them about the food chain during this time and also about various types of climates or habitats that a lot of carnivores live in. This will help them get a good overall image in their mind when it comes to identifying these types of eaters.
What is an omnivore?
An omnivore is an animal that will eat both meat and plants.
This one might be a bit trickier but see if they know of any omnivores off the top of their head. You can even give them a few clues to try and guess. Playing hangman where they fill in the letters is another fun idea that can get them engaged and guessing the answers as well.
Going over the definitions with the kids before getting started on these worksheets is a great way to prep them as well. If you try and introduce a concept to them that they aren’t familiar with, you might frustrate them and get a bit of friction.
Always take a new concept or thought process a bit slower to help them adjust to the idea.

Fun Ways to Use These Carnivore, Herbivore, and Omnivore Worksheets
There are actually a lot of great ways to use these worksheets. The kids might not mind sitting at the table and getting started but I like to add in a bit of variety.
Visiting a local farm or zoo is a super simple way to get the kids out of the house and to see these animals in person. You can then have a discussion about what food the animals eat while you’re there observing them as well.
Find a fun documentary online that showcases the various animals. Since we’ve been at home quite a bit these past few months and during the year, exploring the world of documentaries is a good idea.
There are so many great animal shows online and on TV that the kids can take their animal knowledge even further as well.

These worksheets are geared towards early learners but can be done with parental help for all ages. Kindergarteners are typically starting to get interested in learning more about animals and these worksheets can help accomplish just that.
If you have a younger child, just sit down next to them and start the learning process. This will give you the chance to talk to them about the differences and help them begin learning at a young age.
Don’t forget to grab your Carnivore, Herbivore, and Omnivore Worksheets!
Once you get the packet printed out, the kids are going to have so much fun completing it.
I love to keep printables like this in the car because it’s so much better than giving them a tablet or screens to stare at. I have a folder in the car that I’ll just load up with printables as I get them and then the kids can easily grab that folder as we’re in the car.
We also like to keep a lot of fun books in the car as well about topics that we’re actively learning about. I rotate them out all the time for new reading material but I’ve found great success with having the kids learn while we’re traveling which is always great!
Have fun with these printables! The kids are going to have so much confidence and knowledge after completing them!
