Interesting Facts About Canada You Might Not Know

Canada is full of history, culture, and some pretty fascinating facts. While coloring these pages with my older kids, we started talking about our country, and I realized how much there is to learn beyond what we usually cover.

  • Canada has the longest coastline in the world, stretching over 202,000 kilometers, which is longer than the coastlines of all other countries combined.
  • We’re home to more lakes than the rest of the world combined. Canada has over 2 million lakes, covering nearly 9% of our entire land area.
  • Canada has two national sports: lacrosse, the official summer sport, and hockey, the official winter sport. Both are packed with excitement and tradition.

Reading about Canada with your children is an easy and cozy way to start conversations about history, geography, and national symbols.

Supplies You’ll Need for the Canada Day Coloring Sheets

These Kindergarten Canada Day Printables don’t need a lot to get started. Here’s what I usually have on hand:

I have the HP printer 8710, but it’s not available anymore. It’s been running well for years now. Look for another HP Instant Ink-ready printer so that you can use their program to send you ink cartridges whenever your printer gets low on ink.

What’s Included in the Canada Day Coloring Pages?

We Love Canada

This page features two smiling kids proudly waving Canadian flags under bold text that says “We Love Canada.” It sets the tone for patriotism and positivity right from the start.

Flag and Maple Leaves

This sheet shows a child holding a flag with maple leaves gently falling around her. It’s great for encouraging careful coloring and talking about the meaning behind the maple leaf.

Canada Hockey Kids

Two kids are playing hockey beneath the word “Canada.” This one was a big hit with my son, who loves anything related to sports.

Canadian Beaver

The iconic beaver sits cheerfully with a Canadian flag waving behind it. It’s a fun way to introduce this national animal and its role in our history.

Caribou and Maple Leaves

A proud caribou stands tall among floating maple leaves and the words “Happy Canada Day.” The details are a nice challenge for older kids, but still easy enough for kindergarteners.
