What Activity Uses All 5 Senses for Children?

We all are looking for ways to engage our naturally curious kids and get them out of the house to explore and learn about their senses at an early age. By engaging all five senses in a variety of fun indoor and outdoor activities, kids can explore and learn about their surroundings!

Engaging them in activities that use all of their 5 senses can be a great way to teach them more about their body and help develop their skills at the same time. So let’s highlight some fun activities that can engage all 5 senses of your children that do not involve much materials and money.

Cooking and Baking Delicious Treats

Making some delicious food is a great way to engage your kid’s five senses plus create great memories together! Not only does this activity help your child explore their sense of taste, but also their sense of touch, smell, and sight.

Nature Walks

Take your kids for short walks in nature (can even be just around your neighborhood!) to explore and discover the beauty of the world surrounding them. During your fun walk, encourage your child to use their senses. Listen for the birds, sightsee some squirrels playing, touch the textured tree trunks, smell the next-door neighbor’s cooking, and many more!

Music and Movement

Groove with your child at home to the tune of their favorite music! Dancing around, and singing can also be great sensory activities for your children. It will also encourage them to be active.

Explore different dance styles, and musical instruments while helping them recognize different sounds. The most fun part is they’d get to hear their own laughter while having so much fun with you!
