Why do we teach the 5 senses to kids?

One of the first things we teach kindergarteners is the five senses. We do this because it’s important for kids to understand how they interact with the world around them. The five senses are sight, smell, touch, hearing, and taste.

Each sense provides information that helps us navigate and understand our environment. For example, when we see something, we can use our brain to figure out what it is. Or when we smell something, we might be able to tell if it’s poisonous or not.

The five senses also help us learn about new things. When we touch something, we can figure out how it feels. And when we taste something, we can decide if we like it or not.

Teaching kids about the five senses is a great way to help them understand the world around them and how they fit into it.
