Weather Sensory Activities

Weather sensory activities are a great way to engage kids in learning about weather patterns and the water cycle. Plus, they’re just plain fun!

There are a variety of weather-related sensory activities that can be adapted to different age groups.

For younger children, try a simple rainstorm in a jar: add some food coloring to monitor rainfall, then watch as the precipitation falls and collects in the bottom of the jar.

Older kids can try their hand at creating a tornado in a bottle: fill two bottles with water, then screw the lids on tightly and place them end-to-end. When the bottles are turned upside down, the water will swirl around, creating the illusion of a tornado.

These are just a few ideas – there are endless possibilities for weather-themed sensory activities that are both fun and educational.
