Types of Rocks Worksheets

If you’ve been wondering about the different types of rocks in the world, you’re in luck. This printable worksheet is a fast and simple way to find out all about the various rocks.

Sedimentary Rock

You’ll find this type of rock near the surface which means that a lot of them are going to be altered by the patterns of Mother Nature. Most start in the basin of water and are carried about and deposited.

Igneous Rock

This type of rock is made through the heating and the cooling of lava. It can be really unique looking and be one of many different colors.

Metamorphic Rock

Metamorphic rocks are rocks that have went through a various change and are them able to have that process viewd on them. You might see lines, or various colors as that will show that the rock has been through different weather patterns and possibly even locations.

Rock Books for Kids

Don’t forget all the cool rock books for kids! There are so many great resources out there that dive into a ton of great detail and facts all about rocks. These are just a few of our favorites but with a little digging, you can easily find so many more.

We use books a lot in our daily lives and I really think that it has such a positive learning outcome for the kids. While we can do the printables and love having them, following them up with books makes for a fun learning experience as well.

This is because they can use books as a way to independently learn and read. Plus, rock books have really cool pictures in them that are full of bright colors, too!
