Fun Space Facts for Kids
Out of all the mind-blowing space facts for kids, here are some of the most fun!
To start with, did you know that there are more stars in space than there are grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth? And each one of those stars could have its own solar system with planets orbiting around it.
Speaking of planets, did you know that there are eight planets in our solar system and that Neptune, the furthest from the sun, takes 164.79 Earth years to go around it once? Keep in mind that going around the sun once is what we call a year!
Jupiter is the biggest planet and is two and a half times wider than Earth. Saturn is famous for its beautiful rings made up of ice and dust particles. Our very own planet Earth is special because it is the only planet known to have life on it.
Finally, space rockets powerful enough to carry people were only invented about 60 years ago! Before that, people could only dream about visiting space. Now, astronauts live and work on the International Space Station which orbits Earth 16 times a day!
These fun space facts for kids show that there’s a lot to learn about our solar system and beyond. Who knows what else we’ll discover in the future?
