What is the Pumpkin Life Cycle for Kids?

Fall is here! And with it comes one of the most exciting seasonal activities for kids – all about pumpkins! But did you know that pumpkins are more than just fun decorations during Halloween or a delicious treat for Thanksgiving? They come with a complete life cycle that can fascinate and engage kids in a whole new way!

The life cycle of a pumpkin for kids can be summarized in several stages. It begins with planting a pumpkin seed in warm soil.

After receiving ample sunlight and water, a sprout emerges from the ground. The sprout then grows into a vine, which produces flowers. These flowers are pollinated, leading to the formation of green pumpkins.

Over time, these green pumpkins mature into fully ripe fruits ready for harvest.

The entire process can take anywhere from 80 to 120 days, depending on the size of the pumpkin.

Get really hands-on and plant your very own pumpkin seed to see it grow on its own.

Discuss what it needs and see if you can get your very own pumpkin out of it.
