Why learn about the moon?

Learning about moon phases can be a great way for kids to grow their curiosity and knowledge about the night sky. Exploring moon phases provides an opportunity to learn more about astronomy and the science of space.

Along with the moon’s effects on the tides, this knowledge can help children develop a greater appreciation of their environment. They can witness first-hand the moon’s cycles, while also discovering its role in our daily lives.

Moon activities can range from simply keeping a moon chart and recording moon sightings to creating moon models with clay or paper balls using different colors to represent each phase of the moon.
