The Life Cycle of a Bear
Bears have an interesting life cycle that starts when they are cute little babies. Bears are born in a cozy den during winter. At this time, they are still very small, almost the size of a squirrel, and they cannot see or hear anything.
Newborn bears stay close to their mom, drinking her milk and to keep staying warm. When spring comes, these bear cubs are bit bigger and start to explore the outside world with their mother. They even learn to find food and swim at this stage.
As the cubs grow into young bears, they play a lot, which helps them become strong. And after a few years, they are ready to live on their own! Adult bears spend most of their time alone, except when mothers care for their cubs or when it’s time to find a partner.
Adult bears eat a lot in the summer and fall to get ready for winter. When it gets too cold, they find a den and sleep through most of the winter. This sleep is called hibernation.
Every few years, a female bear will have her own cubs, and the cycle starts again with another bunch of cuddly newborns. Bears can live for many years in the wild, making their life cycle quite amazing to learn especially for kids!
