Fun Facts About Apples

Did you know that apples come in all sorts of colors besides red, like green and yellow? Apples are super crunchy and make a great snack that helps to keep your teeth strong.

Here’s a cool fact: apples float in water because they are made up of 25% air. Plus, if you plant an apple seed, it won’t grow the same kind of apple. It might look totally different. And guess what? There are over 7,500 kinds of apples around the world. Isn’t that amazing?

Eating apples is not only tasty but also gives your body lots of vitamins to help you stay healthy and active.

Who doesn’t love apples? Learn how they grow from a seed to a delicious fruit that you can enjoy as a family. Kids will love to explore apple trees if you decide to go apple picking.

What can kids learn from these apple activities?

These apple activities aren’t just cute; they actually help kids build important early skills without it feeling like work. I used them with my daughter when she was in kindergarten, and they quickly became an integral part of our lessons.

  • Counting and number recognition. Many of the activities focus on numbers in playful ways, like apple-themed puzzles, matching, or ten frames.
  • Fine motor practice. From cutting practice to tracing, my daughter loved anything that let her use scissors and glue. It helped her improve her pencil grip without relying on constant handwriting drills.
  • Vocabulary and early reading. Simple word recognition, sorting pictures and words, and themed vocabulary were built into the packs we used, and they were easy to repeat until she felt confident.

When fall hits, I pull out a few themed printables that always make our homeschool days smoother and more fun. These are perfect if you want something ready to go that still encourages your kids to learn.

What You’ll Need for Apple Activities

Before jumping into apple-themed lessons and printables, it’s helpful to have a few essentials on hand. Nothing complicated, just basic tools and materials that make it easy to set up, keep things organized, and let your kids explore in fun and creative ways.

  • baking soda
  • vinegar
  • popsicle sticks
  • colored paper
  • paper plates
  • egg carton
  • markers
  • glue
  • scissors
  • and other basic supplies, depending on the activity

I’ve found that apple-themed toys make a great addition to our fall learning setup, especially when I want to keep the learning going through pretend play or quiet time.
