Winter Printables for Preschool

Young Learners Science Club

If you’re staying inside all bundled up, why not try one of these winter printables for preschool? I love changing things up and offering a variety of activities for my daughter.

If you want more printables, check my list of Winter Printables for Kids. It gave me fresh reminders of what worked well when my older three were still in preschool. I always appreciated having something ready to go when the weather kept us indoors.

She loves coloring and interactive worksheets when we’re not creating crafts and completing hands-on activities. They are a great supplement to any preschool education.

And if you’ve been following along with the blog, you know I’m also a big believer in themed learning. So when the winter months roll around, you know I’ll have a ton of winter-themed preschool printables for the kids, too.

Topics to Explore During the Winter Season

Winter brings plenty of chances to talk about seasonal changes and nature. These conversations can make your lessons feel grounded and relatable.

  • Winter activities: Highlight fun outdoor moments and how people stay active.
  • Weather patterns: Discuss temperature, snow, and how the environment shifts.
  • Animal behavior: Explore how creatures rest or adjust during colder months.
  • Seasonal clothing: Talk about what we wear and why layers matter.

Enjoy the snow indoors with these fun snowy winter books filled with fun snow days and snowmen. You can bundle up on the couch and read them together from the comfort of your living room.

No matter what lesson you’re learning, always add in books. The more that they read or study about a certain topic, the more they’re going to remember all the things as well.

Supplies You May Need for These Printable Activities

Most of these printables use items you likely already have at home. Keeping a small stash ready makes prep quick.

I have the HP printer 8710, but it’s no longer available. It’s been running well for years now. Consider another HP Instant Ink-ready printer so that you can use their program to send you ink cartridges whenever your printer gets low on ink.

How to Extend the Activity

If you want to stretch these lessons further, try adding topics connected to animals and winter habits. These ideas help preschoolers connect stories, movement, and early learning.

  • Hibernation activities: I used these when my older kids were younger, and they loved learning how animals rest during colder months. They also enjoyed comparing different creatures and noticing how each one adapts.
  • Winter animal coloring pages: These pages make it easy to discuss how animals adapt to cold weather while keeping hands busy with simple coloring tasks. My daughter liked choosing colors that matched the real animals we talked about.
  • Outdoor winter walk: A short walk gives kids a chance to observe real seasonal changes up close. My older boys always noticed tracks or frosted branches, which led to great conversations later.
  • Simple sensory bin: When my kids used it, they enjoyed exploring the cool textures and simple tools while creating their own winter scenes, and it helped them stay engaged during quiet learning time.
