Swimming Safety Tips for Kids

In addition to using these swim safety worksheets, here are some other important tips to keep children safe around water:

Supervise your child

Always supervise your child closely while they’re swimming or playing near bodies of water. Never leave them unattended without adult supervision. That way, you can ensure that you will always be ready to take care of them should they need help or if they are in possible danger.

Teach your kids about the potential dangers and safety precautions

Kids should know about the potential hazards in and around water so that they are aware of it. Teach them the safety precautions and reinforce safety rules. Such as always asking for permission and notifying an adult before going into the water. And no running and playing near pools.

Don’t forget to keep reminding them about the water safety rules, even after your swimming safety lesson, so they really understand how important it is and can remember to follow them.

Use swimming aids for your child

Make sure your child wears appropriate floatation devices especially if they are not confident swimmers. You can also consider enrolling your child in swimming lessons to improve their swimming abilities.

This is for them to enjoy their time in the water and for you to feel somehow at ease.
