With numbers and math being such a huge focus and topic for the kids, it just makes sense to have fun worksheets for them to practice on. The best part about this printable worksheet is that it combines both at the same time! They can focus on their love for space AND work on their counting skills as well.

Sounds like the perfect win-win situation to me! The kids seem to agree because they’re always asking for more worksheets just like this one. (and I’ll happily agree to that every single time!)

This is why I’ll continue to think up and create printables that are all about themes. It’s because the kids seem to really enjoy learning with themes and they actually look forward to learning this way as well!

Recommended Math Manipulatives

The other big part about using math in your daily activities is to remember that there are broad ways that you can use that math. Some people prefer to use it as a visual while some kids actually learn better with hands-on math learning. In my opinion, you do what works best for you and your family.

Some days, we do a mixture of both. There are times when the kids want to see numbers and there are times when the kids want to use objects for math learning.

I’ve found that incorporating some of these math learning tools, it’s a great way to find a new method of teaching and learning for the kids. If you pair these up with the Space Counting Worksheet, you’re going to find new ways to build their math confidence as well.

Recommended Math Manipulatives

Math counters can help kids see them work out math problems when they start to run out of fingers. They’re also great for visualizing math problems, never teach math without them.

Why learning worksheets work for kids

Keep in mind that when it comes to printables, there are a lot of ways that you can use these printables. I’m a big fan of printables because it gives structure and also the ability for kids to complete them on their own.

I love being able to print off a worksheet and have the kids get started right away. It’s usually something that they don’t have to wait for me to help with at all and it’s a simple way for them to use their own resources to get started.

Teaching Counting at a Young Age

The best part about using worksheets such as these is that it helps to teach kids the importance of learning their numbers. It’s fun to see them realize that there are really numbers everywhere we look.

Once they understand the basics of counting and see the benefit of being able to count, you’re going to find them counting anything and everything that they can. This is going to be the new normal for them in terms of counting objects, food, and even the number of green beans that are left on their plate.

When you can use everyday objects to associate with counting and numbers, it gives them a bit of freedom to use those numbers as they want. They’ll love telling you that they have 2 teddy bears, need three more candy bars for the day, or have 7 rocks that they want you to see on the front porch.

When a young learner grasps how to start counting it’s all that they’re going to want to focus on and show off to you! And this is a great thing!
