Scarecrow Worksheets for Preschool

Scarecrows are More Interesting Than You Think
Scarecrows are one of those fall symbols we see everywhere, but we don’t often talk about where they came from. When I was going through this topic with my daughter years ago, she was way more into it than I expected. Here are some facts that caught her attention:
- Scarecrows were used over 2,000 years ago. Ancient Greek farmers built wooden statues in their fields to keep birds away. They believed they worked because of their creepy looks.
- Not all scarecrows look like people. In Japan, traditional scarecrows sometimes wear raincoats or straw hats and even carry fake weapons. The goal is to look human enough to frighten animals from a distance.
- There’s a scarecrow festival in the UK. Each year, villages host events where families build creative scarecrows to display around town. Some are silly, some are spooky, and others are based on famous people or movie characters.

What You’ll Need for the Fall Scarecrow Printable Pack
You don’t need anything fancy, but having a few supplies ready will make things go smoother.
- Printer (I have this one)
- Paper
- Dot marker
- Pencil
- Crayons
I have the HP printer 8710, but it’s no longer available. It’s been running well for years now. Look for another HP Instant Ink-ready printer so that you can use their program to send you ink cartridges whenever your printer gets low on ink.
What’s included in the scarecrow printable pack?
S is for Scarecrow Dot Coloring Page
This page features a large bubble-style letter S with circles perfect for dot markers. It also includes a cute scarecrow and the word “scarecrow” in bubble letters, which preschoolers can color in.
Line Tracing Page
Kids trace a variety of lines from the scarecrow to the crow. This helps them get familiar with different pencil movements while building control and focus.
Scarecrow Counting
Children count the number of scarecrows in each group and color the correct number beneath. Each group features playful scarecrows holding different fall items.
Shadow Matching
This page has students draw lines to match pictures with their corresponding shadows. It includes fun fall-themed images like corn, crows, and a scarecrow pushing a wheelbarrow.
Which One is Different?
Four groups of scarecrow-themed images are presented, and children must find and color the item that doesn’t belong. It’s a great way to practice attention to detail and early critical thinking.
