Fun Fall Facts
To get into the fall spirit, here are some interesting fall facts:
- Candy Corn Origins – This classic fall treat was originally called “Chicken Feed.” and was first created in the 1880s!
- Leaf Colors – The bright red color of fall leaves comes from a pigment called anthocyanin!
- Pumpkin is a Berry – Pumpkins are actually berries because they grow from a flower and have seeds inside their soft flesh!
- Shorter Days – During fall, days actually get shorter because the Earth’s tilt causes the sun to rise later and set earlier, reducing daylight hours.

How to make this fall sensory bin?
Creating a fall sensory bin with my kids was a delightful experience from start to finish.
We began by pouring mixed beans into the bin to create the base. This gave us a great texture for exploring and allowed us to build our fall scene on top.
Next, we added sticks, acorns, resin pumpkins, and faux sunflowers, arranging them throughout the beans.
As we placed the mini fall florals among the items, the sensory bin came to life with vibrant colors and charm.
My kids loved using the tongs to sift through the beans and discover hidden treasures. They were excited to explore and rearrange the items, turning the bin into their own adventure.
As they played with the sensory bin, my kids enjoyed the variety of textures and colors, and I loved watching their creativity unfold.
The activity provided hours of fun, making it a perfect way to celebrate the season together. We all had a blast, and it turned into a memorable part of fall in our home!
