Parts of a Plant Cell
Plant cells are fascinating and fun for kids to learn about! They make up the building blocks of all plants, from tiny grass blades to mighty trees. A plant cell is made up of several different parts, such as a cell wall, chloroplast, nucleus, and cytoplasm.
Knowing all these different parts can help kids become smarter about nature!
Cell Wall
The cell wall acts like an outer shell to protect the inside components of the cell.
Cell Membrane
The cell membrane acts as a barrier between the outside and inside environment of the cell.
Central Vacuole
The central vacuole maintains the turgor pressure and stores water for the plant cell.
Nucleus
The nucleus helps with cell growth and the reproduction of new cells.
Golgi Apparatus
This is where the synthesis of complex polysaccharides happens.
Mitochondria
The mitochondria generate energy for the cell.
Chloroplast

Plant Cell Craft Supplies
There are so many ways to make your own model depending on what materials you have access to and the time you’re willing to put into it. Put on your creativity hat and don’t be afraid to get messy!
For this craft, you need the following materials:
- Cardboard
- Construction Papers (Light Green, Light Blue, Light Yellow, Green, Red, Yellow, and Pink)
- Pipe Cleaners
- Marker
- Glue Stick
- Glue
- Scissors
How To Make This Plant Cell Craft?
The plant cell is rectangular as opposed to an animal cell that is circular.
The cell nucleus is in the center of the cell and encases the DNA needed to make new cells.
The Golgi vesicle and Golgi apparatus will be made using yellow paper.
Make the mitochondrion using pipe cleaners and form it into a zigzag shape.
Create the chloroplasts for the cell.
The endoplasmic reticulum surrounds the nucleus.
For the last step, put dots or circles around the plant cell.
Good job! You have now made your own plant cell!

Plant Cell Craft
Plant cells can be a tricky concept to explain, but teaching the kids about them doesn't have to be hard! With Plant Cell Craft, you can bring this incredibly complex topic to life with hands-on activities and stimulating visuals.
Materials
- Cardboard
- Construction Papers (Light Green, Light Blue, Light Yellow, Green, Red, Yellow, and Pink)
- Fuzzy Wires
- Marker (Black or Purple)
- Glue Stick
- Glue
- Scissors
Instructions
- Get the cardboard and cut it into a rectangular shape. Once done, attach the light-yellow construction paper (the same size as the cardboard) that will act as the cell wall.
- To make the cell membrane, add light green paper above it and it should be slightly smaller than the cell wall but has the same shape.
- Next, let’s make the central vacuole. Cut it like the shape in the photo and paste it above the light green paper.
- Time to add the brain of the cell, the nucleus. Make it using pink and red construction paper just as shown in the final product.
- For the Golgi vesicles and Golgi apparatus, you'll need yellow construction paper. Some will be shaped in circles and some in the shape of bananas.
- Create an oblong shape with yellow paper and use the marker and outline the outside. Make the mitochondrion using fuzzy wires. Form it into a zigzag shape then use the yellow oblong as its background.
- For the chloroplast, use green paper and cut it into thin rectangular figures. Same as step 6, use the yellow paper as a base and outline it using the marker.
- The next part to make will be the endoplasmic reticulum. The small fuzzy wires would be cut into small sized and attached to the board around the nucleus.
- For the last step, put dots or circles around the plant cell using purple and black markers.
