The Planets in our Solar System

Most kids are fascinated by planets and the solar system. After all, there’s something amazing about the idea that there are other worlds out there, just waiting to be discovered.

The planets in our solar system are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

Mercury is the closest planet to the sun and is also the smallest planet.

Venus is the second closest planet to the sun and is sometimes called the “Earth’s twin” because it is almost similar in size to our planet.

Earth is the third planet from the sun and is the only planet that supports life as we know it.

Mars is the fourth planet from the sun and is known as the “Red Planet” because of its reddish color.

Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun and is by far the largest planet in our solar system.

Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun and is known for its beautiful rings.

Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun and is unique because it rotates on its side.

Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun and was only discovered in 1846.

Pluto was considered a planet until 2006 when it was reclassified as a “dwarf planet.”

Books are a great way to introduce kids to new topics, and there are plenty of great planet books for kids out there. If your child is interested in planets, a few great planet books can help them learn more.
