Fun Facts About Penguins
Before we jump into the printable pack, here are some fun penguin facts to share with your little ones:
- Penguins can’t fly, but they are excellent swimmers. Their wings are like flippers, helping them glide effortlessly through the water. Some species, like the emperor penguins, can swim up to 15 miles per hour.
- Penguins huddle together to stay warm. Since they live in cold environments, especially the emperor penguins found in Antarctica, they use teamwork to share body heat and survive the freezing temperatures.
- A group of penguins on land is called a waddle, and when they’re in the water, they’re called a raft. My kids thought this was hilarious and started calling themselves a “waddle” every time they walked together.
- Penguins have adapted uniquely to their harsh environments, showcasing resilience and teamwork in the face of challenging weather conditions.

What’s Inside the Penguin Printable Pack?
This five-page printable pack includes a variety of engaging activities that will keep your preschooler busy while learning:
Penguin Tracing
Kids will practice tracing different types of lines to help the penguin find its way to the igloo. This is a great pre-writing activity that helps with pencil control and fine motor development.
Big and Small
This activity helps children compare sizes. The first four sets ask them to color the big pictures, and the next four sets focus on coloring the small ones. It’s a simple yet effective way to introduce size differentiation.
Penguin Number Match
Each iceberg has a group of penguins, and the kids will count them and match the number on the right. We’ve used this activity with counting manipulatives like small penguin figurines for extra hands-on learning.
Penguin Patterns
Children will color the picture that completes the pattern. This is a great way to introduce early math concepts in a fun and engaging way.
Number Order 1-10
In this cut-and-paste activity, each penguin holds a number, and kids will arrange them in the correct order from 1 to 10. My daughter loves using glue sticks, so this was a big hit in our homeschool.
