Penguin Arts and Crafts

Crafting is an excellent way for kids to express their creativity and learn about shapes, colors, and other elements of art. With this activity, you will provide your students with images of penguins or descriptions of what penguins look like. Then have them draw their own version of a penguin! This is great for teaching body coverings, adaptations, and more. Plus it’s a lot of fun!

Glacier Exploration

Glaciers are an important part of the environment surrounding penguins. Have your students explore what glaciers look like and how they form by creating their own mini-glaciers with water, ice cubes, and salt. This activity teaches kids about the importance of glaciers and how they impact the environment around them.

Oviparous Animals

Penguins lay eggs just like many other animals do! Have your students research other animals that lay eggs (oviparous animals) and create pictures or diagrams that illustrate which animals lay eggs and where those eggs come from. This activity can help kids understand the concept of reproduction as well as teach them about different types of animals found all over the world.

Weather & Climate

Penguins live in places with cold climates year-round so it’s important to teach kids about this type of weather. You can set up a pretend Arctic circle in your classroom by using white paper snowflakes on the wall or floor to represent snowfall. You could also bring in thermometers so kids can measure temperatures during simulated blizzards or sunny days!
