As ladybugs possess unique characteristics such as camouflage, predation strategies, and large family sizes, kids can learn about a wide array of scientific concepts from these insects.
Through insect lessons, kids can gain an appreciation for the smaller things in life that help to make up the huge puzzle of nature. Also, understanding ladybugs better can give kids increased awareness of the environment and the consequences their actions may have on it.
Ladybugs are a huge help in the garden and eat pests like aphids, mites and mildew. Who wouldn’t want these bugs around in their garden?

The Ladybug Life Cycle
Ladybugs undergo complete metamorphosis, starting as eggs and then going through larvae, pupa, and adult stages. During the larvae period, they go through multiple cycles of growing and shedding their skins before becoming an adult.
The average life span of an adult ladybug is just four weeks. However, depending on their diet and their environment, in captivity some adult ladybugs have been known to live for up to one year!
