Stages of a Frog Life Cycle
Frogs are not just cute jumpers in your yard but fascinating creatures that are unique in terms of their life cycle. Learning about the frog life cycle can be a fun and engaging experience for your children in kindergarten!
Egg Stage
During the first stage of a frog’s life cycle, its eggs are laid in water. These eggs are enclosed in a jelly-like substance that protects them.
Tadpole Stage
Once the frog eggs hatch, they turn into small swimmers called a tadpole. You can show your little ones pictures of tadpoles and have them observe how these tadpoles swim and eat at this stage!
Froglet Stage
As tadpoles eventually grow, they develop limbs and lungs and lose their gills. They undergo metamorphosis (Yes! Like butterflies!) and turn themselves into froglets. During this stage, they are still aquatic which means they still live mostly in the water, but they then start to spend more time on land.
Adult Frog Stage
The final stage of the frog life cycle is the adult frog stage. Adult frogs are fully adapted to living on land but still go for occasional swims from time to time! Frogs are amazing amphibians that come in a variety of colors and sizes.
For a fun activity, you can show your kid pictures of different types of adult frogs and ask them to identify the differences between them!
