Interesting Facts About the 7 Days of Creation

Most of us know the basics of the creation story, but a few lesser-known details make it even more fascinating. Here are a few gems I’ve come across while reading and teaching this story:

  • The separation of light and darkness on Day 1 wasn’t the sun and moon. That came later. God created the concept of day and night first, before placing the sun and moon on Day 4.
  • Plants were created before the sun. On Day 3, God created vegetation, but the sun wasn’t created until Day 4. This shows that God is the ultimate source of life.
  • Humans were the final creation. On Day 6, God created people after all animals and declared everything “very good” after finishing His work.
