Surprising Things About Camping
Even if your family’s more into backyard tents than deep-woods adventures, camping still holds some fun facts worth sharing.
- Campfires release a chemical that lowers stress. Scientists have found that watching a fire actually helps slow the heart rate and reduce anxiety. Now I know why everyone gets so calm during s’mores time.
- The smell of pine trees can boost your mood. A walk through the woods or even a pine-scented item at home can do wonders for your mental energy.
- Tents go back thousands of years. Ancient nomads used early versions of tents for protection and shelter.

Camping Cutting Practice Supplies
Gathering everything ahead of time makes this activity much smoother. Here’s what I keep on hand:
- Printer (I have this one)
- Paper
- Child-safe scissors
- Glue sticks
- Crayons or markers
I have the HP printer 8710, but it’s not available anymore. It’s been running well for years now. Look for another HP Instant Ink-ready printer so that you can use their program to send you ink cartridges whenever your printer gets low on ink.
What’s included in the camping worksheets for kindergarten?
Camping Activities
Kids trace the name of common camping actions like fishing, hiking, and roasting, then cut and paste the matching item beside it. This one keeps them engaged while building recognition and handwriting confidence.
Camping Map Puzzle
This activity includes four vertical pieces that form a map when correctly ordered. After cutting and pasting them, kids color the finished image to make it their own.
What to Pack?
Kids choose which items are camping essentials and paste them onto a large illustrated backpack. It leads to some good conversation on what they think is essential to take along.
Camping Sound Sort
Here, kids sort items based on their beginning letter sounds: F, H, or B. It’s a smart way to work on phonics practice while keeping with the theme.
Camping Patterns
Each row has a repeated image pattern, and kids need to cut out and paste the image that completes it. It’s a quiet task that really focuses their attention on repetition and prediction.
Camping Sound Sort (Answer Key)
This page shows the completed version of the sound sort activity. You can use it to guide them or for easy checking afterward.
