How to Make a Whale Paper Plate Craft

There’s more fun in creating this activity when you do not just create the whale itself, but also its natural habitat. Create your whale’s home using a paper plate and colored paper cutouts. You can attach them all together using your liquid glue.

Your whale needs its companion! Make sure to download and print the template provided below, so you can trace, cut, and paste your colorful whale friends into your paper plate sea

Don’t forget about the star of this activity – the whale itself! Stick your whale cutout into a popsicle stick and reunite your whale with its friends by attaching it to your ocean paper plate!

Tips

Who says you can’t create a few more friends for your whale? You can add more sea creatures and aquatic plants to make your ocean appear more colorful!
Explore your whale’s movements, you can add more slits to your paper plate for this, just be careful when using your scissors to create the slits.

Whale Paper Plate Craft

Introduce this majestic sea mammal while enjoying a fun-filled ocean-themed activity with your child.

Materials

Scissors
Liquid glue
Paper plate
Popsicle stick
Black Marker
Glue stick
Colored paper (yellow, green, black, red, sky blue)
Template provided (Printable)

Instructions

Using scissors, create a semi-circle shape out of your sky blue colored paper, then cut a wave-like line on the straight surface part of it.
Glue your sky blue colored paper cut-out onto a paper plate. Make a small slit and follow the circular bottom edge of your paper plate. Make sure the cut is not exceeding the semi-circle sky blue paper that you glued earlier.
Print the template provided below, Carefully cut the pieces out using scissors.
Trace the cut-out figures onto your colored papers and carefully cut them using your scissors.
Attach the cut-out figures (starfish, seaweed, and fish) to the work you created in steps 1-2.
Using a glue stick, attach the star of this activity (the whale) to a popsicle stick.
Lastly, attach your whale on a stick to the ocean paper plate you created and here you go!
