What are the characteristics of a spider?
Spiders are truly fascinating creatures! Here are the eight key characteristics that make them unique:
- They have eight legs, no more, no less.
- Spiders have two main body parts, the cephalothorax and the abdomen.
- They have fangs that can inject venom.
- Most spiders spin webs made of silk to catch their prey.
- They have up to eight eyes, although some have fewer.
- Spiders don’t have antennae like insects do.
- They breathe through tiny holes called book lungs or tracheae.
- Spiders are usually covered in tiny hairs that can sense movements and vibrations.
Isn’t that cool?
