Fascinating Facts About Pumpkins
I’ve always enjoyed surprising my kids with unique facts that make them curious about what we’re learning. Here are a few that stood out to us:
- Pumpkins are technically a fruit. Even though we cook them like vegetables, pumpkins grow from flowers and contain seeds, which means they’re part of the fruit family.
- They come in many colors. While orange is most common, pumpkins can also be white, green, yellow, and even blue. We saw some unusual varieties at a local farm last year.
- They’re almost entirely edible. From the skin to the seeds, nearly every part of the pumpkin can be eaten. My teens still request roasted seeds every fall.
Recommended Pumpkin Books
Pairing these activities with themed storybooks makes learning feel more connected. I have a few go-to pumpkin stories that perfectly complement the worksheets.
