Preschool Nativity Coloring Pages
Preschool Nativity Coloring Pages have always been one of my favorite holiday-themed printables to share with other moms. When my older kids were in preschool, activities like this made our December days feel calm and meaningful. Even now, I love revisiting these pages with the younger ones when Christmas approaches.
If you’re planning your Christmas lessons, you can also look through my list of Christmas worksheets for kids over on my site. That collection has been a tremendous help whenever I needed quick activities to keep my kids engaged during the holiday season.
These pages are simple, faith-centered, and easy to prep. Keep reading if you’re looking for something that supports early skills while helping kids understand the heart of the Christmas story.

Why do kids need to learn about the nativity?
Learning about the nativity helps young children understand the meaning behind Christmas. It also provides a gentle way to introduce early faith concepts.
- Helps build awareness of the Christmas story: Kids start recognizing the key characters and setting behind the holiday.
- Supports early character development: The story offers opportunities to discuss kindness, giving, and gratitude.
- Introduces spiritual concepts in an age-appropriate way: Preschoolers get a simple foundation for understanding why Christmas matters.
Recommended Books About Christmas
I always like pairing themed printables with read-alouds, and Christmas books make this set even more meaningful.

Skills preschoolers can develop with these nativity pages
These coloring sheets support early learning in a way that feels relaxed and fun.
- Fine motor control: Coloring encourages careful hand movements, which later support handwriting. My daughter used pages like these regularly, and I could see her pencil control gradually improve.
- Early vocabulary: Each page introduces key nativity words, offering early reading exposure. Even when my older kids were past tracing, they still enjoyed naming each picture aloud.
- Visual comprehension: Kids learn to connect images with story elements. This helps them understand who each character is and where they belong in the nativity scene.

Supplies for the Nativity Coloring Activity
You don’t need much to get started with these pages.
- Printer (I have this one)
- Paper
- Pencil
- Crayons/colored pencil
I have the HP printer 8710, but it’s no longer available. It’s been running well for years now. Consider another HP Instant Ink-ready printer so that you can use their program to send you ink cartridges whenever your printer gets low on ink.

How to extend the nativity activity
If you want to build on the coloring pages, it’s easy to add a few extra activities to deepen the learning.
- Printable Santa shipping label: Use this as a fun writing activity where kids decide what they would send to someone they care about. It adds a playful Christmas theme to your lessons.
- Christmas STEM challenge cards: These cards encourage hands-on problem-solving. Kids can try building simple structures or completing themed tasks while staying in the holiday spirit.
- Role-play nativity figures: Let kids act out the nativity using small toys or paper cutouts. They can retell the story in a natural way.
- Nativity story sequencing: Print simple sequencing strips and have kids place the events in order. This strengthens comprehension.
