Police Worksheets for Preschool

Young Learners Science Club

Preschoolers always seem to light up when they see a police car drive by, don’t they? These Police Worksheets for Preschool are a fun and easy way to tap into that excitement while slipping in some skill-building activities. When my kids were younger, they loved anything related to badges, uniforms, and walkie-talkies.

If you’ve already checked out my Free Preschool Printables, you know how much I lean into hands-on, print-and-go resources that don’t take a lot of setup. These police-themed worksheets align perfectly with that idea. They’re simple to prep and engaging enough to keep them focused.

Now let’s break down what’s in the printable pack, what kinds of skills it supports, and a few extra ways to build on the theme through play and reading. If you’re planning a community helper week or just want something new for quiet time, this printable is worth checking out.

Fun Facts about Police Officers

We often think of police officers in the context of emergencies, but there’s so much more to their role. I remember explaining these things to my daughter when we were studying community helpers and watching her perspective shift.

  • They sometimes patrol on bikes or horses. Not every officer drives a car. Some use bicycles or even horses in busy urban areas or parks, which helps them connect with people face-to-face.
  • They help during natural disasters. When storms or floods happen, officers assist in evacuations and make sure supplies get to people safely.
  • They work in cybercrime, too. Officers are also trained to track online crimes, which is something most kids don’t picture when thinking about police work.

We’ve had some great conversations after reading stories that included police characters. Books are a nice way to give preschoolers context and help them feel more familiar with uniforms and gear before you ever leave the house.

Why It’s Good for Kids to Learn About Police Officers

Introducing these community roles early builds trust and helps kids understand how society functions. These conversations don’t need to be complicated. They grow over time.

  • It builds awareness. Kids start recognizing emergency workers as people who help, which makes them feel more confident in unfamiliar situations.
  • It starts safety conversations. This provides a natural way to discuss what to do if they’re lost or need help.
  • It creates curiosity. Understanding what different people do every day keeps kids interested in the world around them.

Printable Pretend Play Packs That Pair Well With This

Pretend play was a huge hit in my house when my daughter was in preschool. These printable play packs are great for adding more imagination to your day while still learning through role play. They pair well with the police worksheets and help maintain the theme throughout the week.

What Kids Learn With These Police Worksheets

These aren’t just cute. They’re designed to build key early learning skills in a way that feels playful, not forced.

  • Letter recognition: Kids trace the word “police” and match beginning sounds with familiar tools, which supports early literacy and phonemic awareness.
  • Pre-writing skills: Line tracing pages get those hand muscles working. This preps them for future writing.
  • Sorting and reasoning: The sorting page challenges them to group items, sharpening observation and classification.

Recommended Police Toys That Support This Theme

I have the HP printer 8710, but it’s not available anymore. It’s been running well for years now. Look for another HP Instant Ink-ready printer so that you can use their program to send you ink cartridges whenever your printer gets low on ink.
