Why Learn about Plant Life Cycles?

It is crucial that children are taught about plant life cycles at a young age. It is the basis for understanding how our food is grown and how ecosystems function.

By learning about the growth and reproduction of plants, kids can develop an appreciation for nature and all living things.

These life cycle coloring pages can be a helpful tool in this process, as they provide a visual aid for kids to reference as they learn about the various stages of a plant’s life.

Plus they’ll be learning new vocabulary that they can learn to read and spell.

The Plant Life Cycle

For kids of all ages, the life cycle of a plant is an amazing process! All plants start out as a seed. From there, when watered or exposed to enough moisture, sunlight and proper soil conditions, most plants will sprout and begin to grow in size as they absorb nutrients from their environment.

After a period of many months (or sometimes even years depending on the species!), they will eventually mature, beginning to produce flowers before eventually creating more seeds and completing the cycle.

You can show your kids this cycle by starting your own garden in your backyard. My daughter loves picking her own seeds and planting and she nurtures them. The look of excitement on her face once the seeds start to sprout is wonderful.
