How do you identify a queen bee?

Queen bees are incredibly important to the survival of their colonies. But what makes a queen bee different from the rest of the bees in her colony? As you may have guessed, the queen bee has some unique parts that set her apart from the rest.

Her most important part is her abdomen where she stores and releases eggs. Her thorax is also unique in that it’s responsible for muscle movement.

However, what sets the queen apart from other bees is her developed mandibles for biting through wax cells and her stinger, which is only used when fighting another queen.
