MEL Science Vacuum Kit Review
The Vacuum Kit demonstrates how air pressure works by letting kids remove air from a sealed chamber. Experiments such as watching a marshmallow puff up make abstract concepts easy to grasp. The app explanations help reinforce what’s happening, allowing kids to understand not just the results but the science behind them.
This one came with 3 different experiments in the box. That was neat. My son made the one with the balloon. You create a vacuum and as your remove all of the air the balloon fills the entire chamber.
While there are video guides, my son was able to build all of the boxes without them. He prefers reading instructions to watching videos.

MEL Science Green Flashlight Kit Review
This kit teaches how mechanical energy can be converted into electrical energy. Kids build a crank-powered flashlight that lights up without batteries. The direct feedback—turn the handle, get light—helps kids understand energy transfer in a simple but powerful way. The finished flashlight is sturdy enough for everyday use.
My daughter liked this one since she could draw something fun with the invisible ink pen and then light it up with the flashlight; she thought it was pretty neat.

MEL Science Hydraulic Lift Kit Review
The Hydraulic Lift Kit shows how fluid pressure can move objects using syringes, tubing, and a wooden lift structure. It introduces basic engineering concepts and gives kids the chance to explore mechanical force in action. After assembly, kids enjoy experimenting with lifting small items and adjusting how the system works.
This was the most fun to play with and both of my kids’ favorite one. we ended up with a plastic cheetah on ours to lift.
