A regular visit to the dentist should be part of every family’s health routine. Dentists not only help you take care of your teeth, but can help teach your child how to use a toothbrush properly and show them how to brush their teeth.

There are so many benefits to instilling good dental health habits in our kids. Not only is it good for their long term health, but it’s also good for your wallet! After all, a good toothbrushing routine can help prevent cavities, and that means fewer visits to the dentist.

The American Dental Association recommends that kids brush their teeth (or have parents do it for them) at least twice a day — once right after breakfast and again right before bed. And those are also perfect opportunities to incorporate tooth brushing into your regular routines.

Make brushing their teeth part of post-meal clean up, along with taking dishes off the table and washing their hands and face. And make toothbrushing a regular part of bedtime, right alongside pajamas and storytime.
