Different Types of Homeschool Unit Studies

Theme-based Homeschool Unit Studies

This type of homeschool unit study involves exploring a particular theme at length, incorporating various subjects like literature, history, science, geography, and art. For example, a homeschool unit study on Ancient Egypt could explore the pyramids, mummification, hieroglyphics, and even the culture and beliefs of the Egyptians.

The study can involve reading books, watching documentaries, and doing hands-on experiments and crafts, among others.

For example, the novel “Charlotte’s Web” could be the center of a homeschool unit study for 3rd or 4th graders in which they learn about spiders, farm life, and friendship.
