Who Is This Printable For?
These worksheets are designed for elementary through middle school students.
The open-ended prompts make them easy to adjust for different ages. Younger kids can answer with short phrases or pictures, while older students can write more detailed responses and think more deeply about their goals.
Why Reflect on the New Year?
The new year gives kids a natural opportunity to look back at their experiences and think about what they want to do next.
They can identify favorite memories, recognize things they’ve learned, and choose a few realistic goals without turning the activity into a long assignment.
Recommended New Year Books
Add a New Year read-aloud to your lessons so kids can explore celebrations, fresh starts, goals, and traditions through stories before working on the printable.

What Will Kids Learn?
These worksheets combine reflection and writing with a few practical planning skills.
- Reflection: Think about favorite experiences, accomplishments, and things learned.
- Goal setting: Choose things they want to accomplish, improve, or try.
- Planning: Organize ideas for places to visit, foods to try, and activities to do.
- Writing: Respond to prompts with short or detailed answers based on ability.
- Telling time: Use the countdown clock to work with an analog clock and time remaining.
How to help kids set goals for the New Year?
Goal setting gives kids a simple way to think about what they want to learn, improve, or try in the year ahead.
Some age-appropriate goals might include:
- Reading more books
- Improving in a school subject
- Trying a new hobby
- Building a healthy habit
- Doing more acts of kindness
- Saving money for something special
- Learning a new skill
Keep the goals realistic and positive, and encourage kids to notice their progress along the way.

What Supplies Are Needed?
You only need a few basic supplies.
- Printer (I have this one)
- Paper
- Pencil
- Crayons/colored pencils
- Older students may prefer using pens or fine-tip markers for their written responses.
I have the HP printer 8710, but it’s not available anymore. It’s been running well for years now. Look for another HP Instant Ink-ready printer so that you can use their program to send you ink cartridges whenever your printer gets low on ink.
What Is Included?
The printable includes four pages that encourage kids to reflect on the past year and think about what they want from 2027.
New Year Countdown Clock
Students draw the hands on the clock as the new year approaches, record the time, and write how many hours and minutes remain.
Younger students can use it for basic analog clock practice, while older students can calculate the remaining time more independently.
My Year in Review
Students record their name, age, and height, add a photo or self-portrait, and think back on the year.
They can write about what they tried, learned, and loved, record favorite books, foods, songs, toys, or movies, and begin thinking about what they want to learn or do in the coming year.
My 2027 Bucket List
Kids choose three places they’d like to visit, three foods they want to try, and three things they’d like to do.
Younger students can draw their ideas, while older students can add written details or explain why each item made their list.
New Year’s Resolutions
The final page asks students to think about something they want to accomplish, what they’re excited about, habits they’d like to do more or less often, and something they want to learn.
There’s also space to record the best thing about the previous year, making this page a mix of reflection and looking ahead.
