Should I talk to my teenager about pregnancy?

You know your teen best. And while you may be wondering if you should talk to your teen about pregnancy, it’s never a bad idea to have an open line of communication with your teen.

There may be certain topics that are harder to talk about as your child is growing up, but make sure that educating them and answering any of their questions isn’t one of them.

How common is teen pregnancy?

According to an article from the World Health Organization, “Every year, an estimated 21 million girls aged 15–19 years in developing regions become pregnant and approximately 12 million of them give birth.” That makes it feel like it’s pretty common, right?

This is why making sure that your teenager is aware and ready, just in case. Teen pregnancy isn’t something to only talk about when the teenager is already pregnant – there’s nothing wrong with having the conversation as a way to educate, just in case.

Some of the books on this list are to be read before pregnancy, and some are to be read after pregnancy is already confirmed.
