Surprising Facts About Mother’s Day

Even though it’s a well-known celebration, Mother’s Day has some interesting background that many people don’t hear about:

  • The original Mother’s Day in the U.S. was inspired by a woman named Anna Jarvis who wanted to honor her mother’s dedication to community care.
  • In some countries, like Ethiopia, Mother’s Day is celebrated with a multi-day festival full of singing and traditional meals.
  • It wasn’t always commercial—early Mother’s Day celebrations were more about gatherings and handwritten notes than cards and flowers.

If you’re planning a themed week, Mother’s Day-themed picture books add a lovely touch to morning reading time.

  • Printer (I have this one)
  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Crayons/colored pencils

I have an HP printer 8710, but it’s no longer available. It’s been running well for years now. Look for another HP Instant Ink-ready printer so that you can use their program to send you ink cartridges whenever your printer gets low on ink.
